Bergschmiede

The oldest building on our site on Süberweg is the mountain forge (Bergschmiede). Built in 1871, it is partly half-timbered. Among other things, miners’ tools were sharpened here and defective mine cars were repaired. Until 2010, the “Alte Schmiede” was still operated by CEMEX Kies und Split GmbH. It was then restored by the Museum Industriekultur and converted into a depot.
